1 Samuel 8:4-18 There was no king in Israel, we should get one
8:4-5 the elders to Samuel: you are old, your sons are like Eli’s sons

8:6 Samuel to the LORD: this is evil in my eyes

8:7-9 the LORD to Samuel: obey them they will get the king they ask for

8:10-18 Samuel to the people: be warned you will get the king you deserve

1 Samuel 8:19-22 Everyone still doing what is right in their own eyes
