Prayer for the week (written by Steve Messer)

“And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” – Matthew 9:2

Heavenly Father,

Make us people of enduring faith in the forgiving authority of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we never lose our sense of wonder that, by faith in His atoning death on the cross, our deepest need has been met – the forgiveness of our sin. Grant that we would be content with however you answer our prayers.

Help us each day, by the power of your Holy Spirit, to turn from our sins and live in newness of life under the authority of our Lord and King Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.
